Is CREATE Health Scholars for high school students?
No, this program is specifically for undergraduate students who have completed at least one full year of collegiate coursework, and are in good standing at a community college or university in Colorado.
Are participants responsible for paying for their daily meals?
The CREATE Health Scholars program will pay for your room and board, your summer tuition, as well as any entrance fees for program scheduled activities. If you wish to provide extra meals and/or snacks, you may do so at your own expense.
I will probably drive to Denver or take the Greyhound Bus and won’t have transportation while in Denver. Is this going to be a problem?
No, the CREATE Health Scholars program will provide transportation by carpooling between campuses or providing transport in another fashion. Students who provide their own vehicles will be reimbursed for gas money during the program for program-sanctioned events. Your travel expenses to and from Denver at the onset and conclusion of the program will be at your own expense.
Should I bring dress clothes (shoes, shirt, tie, etc.), casual clothes, or workout clothes to the summer residential program?
You will need both dress and casual clothing. Professional attire is required for job-shadowing and all days spent on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Additionally, Regis University has a nice campus where you may run or walk for exercise if you so choose.
I don’t own a personal computer, will this be a problem? Does Regis Universityhave a place where I could access the internet?
Regis University has a computer lab to which we will have daily access. If you are able to procure or borrow a laptop, it is highly encouraged.
Do I need to buy school supplies?
We will supply paper, pencils, and any necessary books. You may bring a calculator for the math and physics classes and any other supplies you wish to have for the summer month.
Does Regis Universityhave a laundry area where we could wash our clothes?
Yes. We will show you the area and system when you arrive.
Will we get to visit CU medical school?
Yes, the CREATE Health Scholars program will be located at both Regis University and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
How much money would I need in order to cover my basic necessities while in Denver?
You will be responsible for purchasing your own personal items, gas money prior to reimbursement after the program, and any gifts or souvenirs. The CREATE Health Scholars program will pay for food, transportation and entrance fees.
