Click on ucdenver.edu and you’re sure to notice some big improvements. The University of Colorado Denver completed its massive 2½-year web redevelopment project on time and on budget July 31. The project consisted of three key components:
· Transitioning all web content on www.uchsc.edu, www.cudenver.edu and www.ucdhsc.edu to a centralized domain.
· Moving all public facing content into a centralized content management system
· Redesigning all 13 school and college websites as well as refreshing content for nearly 100 administrative websites.
The final stage of the project is to redesign the current university homepage with an updated visual design. During the past two years, University Web Services (UWS) and Integrated University Communications (IUC) gathered significant research through the redesign projects of our 13 schools and colleges and administrative website redesign projects. Working with a campus advisory team, UWS and IUC plan to take all of the lessons learned from those projects as well as the significant feedback received the past 24 months to create a design that represents the university’s brand and a homepage that meets the university’s strategic goals and diverse audiences’ needs.
On July 31, the old domain addresses expired and all content that resided on the servers for those domains was moved to the new www.ucdenver.edu domain and servers. More than 100,000 pages of content will have been migrated to create one comprehensive, consolidated website.
For any links that were not updated prior to July 31, University Web Services is doing a global search for broken links to the expired domain names and will be updating links as soon as possible. If external websites are linking to the expired domains, UWS is monitoring these occurrences and will be working to update those links.
