Auraria Library reserves fall semester deadlines and changes


It seems like the summer just started and it’s much too early to think of the fall….alas, now is the time to be concerned about fall semester reserves requests. In compliance with copyright, all materials currently on Reserves will be removed from the reserve system on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010.

All faculty must fill out a new request form EACH fall semester. Unless otherwise notified, all reserve materials will remain on the Reserve system for one academic year starting with the fall semester and will automatically be updated for the following semesters.  Therefore, materials will not be removed until the end of the summer semester 2011. If you will not be teaching the same class in future semesters or you would like for your materials to be removed and returned to you prior to this time, please indicate this in the Special Instructions section of the form.

Please remember to submit a new request form, appropriately filled out and signed.  The form is available online from our departmental website at this URL: Click on the 4th link down “Home page for Information Delivery Services”.  Here you will find not only the Reserves Request form but also other departmental forms including the Video Booking form and more information about our unit.

You can fill out the form online, print it off and sign it.  A faculty signature is required before the request will be processed so you can not send the request electronically.    You can also obtain a Reserve request form from the ASK US desk, near the entrance to the library.

Our submission deadline for Reserves requests for the Fall 2010 semester is Monday, August 2, if you expect your materials to be up by the end of the second week of the Fall semester.  Requests submitted after this date will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.  So, now is the time to start gathering those materials (hard copy or electronic) that you want to have processed for next semester.

Remember, Reserves staff will pull library materials from the circulating collection only up to the start of the fall semester.  So, the last day that we can accept requests for the retrieval of materials from the 2nd floor circulating collection by reserves staff is Friday, August 20.  After this date, Faculty are responsible for bringing these materials to reserves.

NEW THIS SEMESTER: Instead of dropping off reserve requests and materials at the ASK US desk, there will be a service window opened for faculty to drop off Reserve requests and get assistance with questions.  This window is located next to the Coffee cart on the first floor of the library and will be open starting Monday, July 19 during the hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
