Dr. Mandt's research utilizes behavioral and neurochemical approaches to identify factors that increase vulnerability to the development of drug addiction (e.g., individual differences or environmental conditions).

Dr. Agler earned her PhD from Cornell University in Nutritional Sciences in 2011. Dr. Agler is a molecular genetic epidemiologist focusing on the impact of nutrition and genomics in lung disease. Dr. Agler has extensive experience working with biomarkers of nutritional status and gene expression and DNA methylation data from patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), the 3rd leading cause of death in the U.S. In her free time Dr. Agler enjoys traveling, hanging out with her husband and her dog, and adventure dining.

Dr. Sherk earned her PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oklahoma in 2011 and is working as a research fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Wendy Kohrt. Dr. Sherk brings to the IMAGE group her expertise on the pQCT, a machine that measures bone mineral density and bone strength. Drs. Sherk and Kohrt will work together on bone health studies, specifically examining the effects of exercise, hormones, calcium homeostasis, and NSAID use on bone health.

Jessica Finlay-Schultz, PhD

Dr. Finlay-Schultz earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2010. She is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Carol Sartorius on a project investigating the role of progesterone-regulated microRNAs in hormone dependent breast cancer and the induction of stem-like breast cancer cells within human breast tumor xenografts.

A Ranjitha Dhanasekaran, PhD

Dr. Dhanasekaran earned her PhD in Computer Science with an emphasis in Bioinformatics from Utah State University in 2011. She is working as a postdoctoral fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Katheleen Gardiner. Dr. Gardiner's lab focuses on intellectual disability (ID) in Down syndrome (DS). Dr. Dhanasekaran employs her bioinformatics skills to unlock pathway mechanisms that cause ID in DS using Knowledge Discovery in Databases.
