- Assists in development of postdoctoral policies
- Coordinates implementation of policies
- Develops campus procedures for postdoctoral processes
- Manages, monitors, and approves the postdoctoral hiring and employment transactions for UCD’s Anschutz and downtown campuses
- Approves all employment actions entered into HRMS for job code 1438 (Postdoctoral Fellow/Trainee)
- Assists hiring departments with issues affecting postdoc employees
- Provides training for postdocs, administrative processors, and mentors
- Acts as a campus conduit of information for career opportunities, funding sources, and postdoctoral issues
- Advocates for postdocs with administration
- Facilitates organization of local campus-wide Postdoctoral Association (PDA)
- Acts as liaison for the campus to external entities such as the National Postdoctoral Association, the Bio-Careers Center, and other organizations concerned with and related to postdoctoral issues
- Builds community by actively assisting in development of business and social interaction among postdocs
- Oversees grievance process
- Awards “Certificates of Completion” to postdoctoral fellows at the end of their appointment
- Obtains data on postdoc experience prior to UCD employment, tracks progress during tenure here, and attempts to follow career paths after research training is completed
