Ethics and Excellence in Transgender Rep.pdf
Dear LGBTQ Community Partners:
I am writing to you as the social
chair for the LGBTQ student organization at the University of Denver’s Sturm
College of Law. We are putting on a fantastic speaker event on the
evening of April 23rd aimed
at providing excellence in transgender client representation. Our special
guest is Ellie Krug, a practicing attorney and author, who transitioned from
male to female while in practice. She is the first transgender attorney
ever to argue in front of the Iowa Supreme Court. Mindy Barton, Legal
Director for the GLBT Community Center of Colorado, will also be discussing the
issues facing the Colorado transgender community, as well as the necessities of
cultural competency in a professional relationship. Though this talk with
be slightly law-oriented, anyone who believes they may have transgender clients
in the future or would just like to hear Ellie’s story will definitely benefit!
The event will include free food
and free adult beverage! I’ve attached our advertisement flyer, which
includes more information on the event and a link to register (most important for free parking).
The OUTLaws would very much
appreciate your support and attendance! Thank you in advance.
