Nov. 10, 2010 - Forecasts predict snow fall this week

Local weather forecasts indicate possible snow accumulations of six to eight inches of snow in parts of the Denver Metro area in the coming days.

During this season, you are encouraged to monitor weather reports from local broadcast media or the National Weather Service online for the latest developments to inform your work commute or other travel plans.

Also make sure you've registered your contact information for emergency alerts through the Rave system.

Here on UC Denver's Alert website we will provide information or instructions when circumstances develop that pose a threat to the safety or security of our students, faculty, staff or visitors at or near any of our locations.

During emergency situations, information also will be available on our toll-free emergency notification phoneline 1-877-INFO-070 (1-877-463-6070). Information specific to the Downtown Denver Auraria Campus also will be available at 303-556-2401. When appropriate, we also work with local radio and televison stations to provide details regarding weather-related closures or schedule modifications.

These emergency notification system tools are part of UC Denver's overall emergency preparedness plan to provide timely information that helps to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff and visitors at or near any of our locations.

Spring commencement is scheduled for 9 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 for UC Denver's downtown students. Ceremonies will take place on the Auraria Field located just off Speer Blvd. -- rain or shine. While cool, damp conditions may persist in the area, back-up plans for alternate locations will be activated only in the case of extreme or dangerous conditions.

The University of Colorado Denver will resume normal operations on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at  both the Denver Campus with Auraria and the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora following closures due to extreme winter weather.

Due to heavy continued snowfall and hazardous conditions throughout the Denver Metro area, UC Denver is closed today, Wednesday, March 24 at both the Denver Campus with Auraria and the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

Also at the Anschutz Medical Campus,  All University of Colorado Hospital outpatient clinics and satellite facilities will have a delayed start at 10 a.m.

UC Denver resumed normal operations Saturday, March 20 following the winter storm that blanketed the Denver Metro area on Friday, March 19.

Please note: meterologists are tracking another winter-like storm system expected to move through our area beginning Tuesday, March 23 - 24. Should conditions necessitate any adjustments to normal operations at any UC Denver location, information including instructions will be available on this Web site and on the toll-free Emergency Notification Phoneline at 1-877-INFO-070.

Due to heavy snow fall and freezing temperatures throughout the Denver Metro area causing hazardous winter conditions, UC Denver’s downtown campus with Auraria and the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora are closing as of 4:10 p.m. today.
