High-level effort initiated at UC Denver to address flu concerns
(Aug. 31, 2009) The return of students to UC Denver's locations and increasing reports of H1N1 flu cases in the region have prompted university leadership to initiate a high-level effort to ensure adequate preparations to manage the threat posed by H1N1 flu.
On this Web site, students, parents, faculty and staff will find extensive information and links to helpful information and resources, including seasonal flu clinic dates, times and locations.
The CDC (
see CDC Guidance for Higher Ed) does not recommend that universities cancel large-scale events or quarantine students or any individuals who may be infected as an H1N1 containment strategy. At this time, UC Denver is not canceling any classes or special events.
Populations considered at increased risk of H1N1 include pregnant women, individuals with suppressed immune systems such as those undergoing chemotherapy, people with diabetes or other complicating medical conditions, and small children.
Flu preps high gear(Sept. 28, 2009) Nearly 600 UC Denver faculty, staff and students cued up to get a seasonal flu vaccine at Anschutz in Aurora and the Lawrence Street Center, downtown. Flu response: Sick leave policy(Aug. 11, 2009) UC Denver Human Resources Assistant Vice Chancellor Kevin Jacobs reminds employees who have the flu or sick family members in their household, the employee must use sick leave, annual or unpaid leave, in that order. University gears up to address H1N1 flu threat(Aug. 3, 2009) The University of Colorado Denver Emergency Response Team (ERT) continues to closely monitor reports and cases of the H1N1 flu. This effort is in preparation for the return of students to UC Denver campuses and the potential threat presented by this flu virus. CDC Advisors Make Recommendations(July 29, 2009) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met today to make recommendations for use of vaccine against novel influenza A (H1N1). Hospitals restrict visitors(Oct. 12, 2009) Hospitals across the state are implementing visitor restrictions in an effort to protect patients, visitors and employees from H1N1 and seasonal flu.
