It is our mission to enhance interactions and collaborations between academia and industry

This symposium aims to:
  1. Enhance academic and industry collaborations
  2. Provide the opportunity for companies to identify new talent
  3. Enhance the awareness of trainees regarding different career opportunities outside of academia

In November 2014, a survey of postdocs and graduate students at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus revealed that only a small percentage could name any of the ~400 biotechnology and bioindustry companies in Colorado.
Through discussions with industry representatives and attendance at different statewide professional networking events, we discovered that many local companies in medical devices, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology are looking for talented people as collaborators and consultants.
These observations inspired us to narrow the gap between companies and academic research laboratories by organizing a symposium that invites academia and industry to come together.

On May 12, 2015, a group of enthusiastic and engaged pre- and post-doctoral trainees, the Science Industry Alliance (SIA), will host the first Rocky Mountain Biotechnology Symposium (RMBTS) at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
Through oral presentations, booths, panel discussions, workshops, one-on-one conversations, and networking throughout the day, participants will learn more about local bioindustry and biotechnology companies. They will also have the chance to set up new connections and collaborations between industry and academia.
