PhD, Integrative Therapies Program Manager
Dr. Lucie joins the MIBH after completing her work with the Marines Special Operations Command, 2d Marine Raider Battalion. She has worked for the Department of Defense for over 20 years. Her experience working with the military includes the National Intrepid Center of Excellence for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of PTSD and TBI and with the Marine Wounded Warrior Detachment as the Warrior Athlete Reconditioning Program Manager in Bethesda and Walter Reed. Prior to that, and while at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Andrea developed the Life Enhancing Activities Program (LEAP), the first of its kind program for the Marine Corps. This comprehensive program provided fitness, recreation, and other complementary and alternative modalities to Marines and sailors diagnosed with PTSD and/or TBI. An advocate for integrated medicine and a holistic approach to healing, Andrea is a certified holistic yoga teacher, a recreational therapist and a Reiki Master. Her experience includes trauma sensitive yoga, tai chi, meditation, mind body medicine, and martial arts. She has been featured in several publications, including the National Journal, U.S. Medicine: The Voice of Federal Medicine, and FIGHTmagazine for her work on post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. A native of Chile, Andrea has been a guest speaker to numerous conferences around the country on behalf of these programs. Likewise, she has received recognition and many awards for her work, including being named the Marine Corps recipient of the 2007 International Military Community Executives Association (IMCEA) Irvin Rubinstein Award.
