Campus Partnerships

CU Anschutz is proud to partner with two of the top hospitals in the nation, both located on the Anschutz Medical Campus: University of Colorado Hospital, named as the top hospital in Colorado by U.S. News & World Report, and Children’s Hospital Colorado, ranked for more than a decade as one of the best children’s hospitals nationally by U.S. News and World Report. Patients can find CU Anschutz physicians at either hospital through University of Colorado Medicine.

Campus Affiliates

In addition to staffing our partner hospitals, CU Anschutz faculty practice in three affiliated institutions: National Jewish Health, the leading respiratory hospital in the nation; Denver Health, which has been caring for the people of Denver and the Rocky Mountain region since 1860; and Denver VA Medical Center, which will provide care in a new facility scheduled for completion in 2016.

Neurosurgeon provides ‘light at end of tunnel’

Liz Calise remembers the morning in 2009 she woke up and her world quite literally flipped. Her bedroom began spinning and she couldn’t keep her balance.

“That was the beginning of my nightmare,” she said. “The dizziness episodes kept happening over and over again.”

Liz and her husband found hope when they heard a presentation by Samy Youssef, MD, PhD. Youssef, who in 2014 joined the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery as a professor of neurosurgery, gave a talk about endoscopic, minimally invasive brain surgery techniques, which have grown in sophistication over the last 20 years.
