The Anschutz Medical Campus, home of the School of Medicine, has an annual impact of $420 million on the Colorado economy. The CU College of Nursing’s certified nurse midwives delivered more than 1,000 babies at their University Nurse Midwives and Center for Midwifery locations in 2012. School of Dental Medicine faculty and students speak more than 30 different languages, creating a comfortable envi- ronment for non-English-speaking patients. In partnership with the State of Colorado, the Colorado School of Public Health is one of only five CDC Centers for Food Safety Excellence in the United States. School of Dental Medicine clinics serve 65,000 patients each year, providing dentures, implants, braces and general dentistry. More than 600 students in Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences volunteer thousands of hours annually for the community. Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences partners donate millions of dollars each year in medications and supplies for the medically indigent.


Fitball pioneer became an entrepreneur

Joanne Posner Mayer pioneered the use of fitballs in the United States.
Four decades have passed since Joanne Posner-Mayer attended her fourth year of physical therapy (PT) classes in a classroom
at the 9th Street and Colorado Boulevard hospital.
Today, she marvels at the new facilities for the physical therapy program at the Anschutz Medical Campus, calling them "state of the art" and "spectacular."
But Posner-Mayer never forgot the training she received as a student, even as she built a successful business promoting Swiss Balls for therapy and fitness in the United States.
