The World Health Organization named the Colorado School of Public Health Center for Global Health a collaborating center for promoting family and child health. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner MS program ranks 5th in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Graduate Schools." In 2012, 98 percent of Skaggs School of Pharmacy graduates passed the national licensing exam within six months of graduation. CU Anschutz, in partnership with Colorado State and Northern Colorado, is home to the only accredited school of public health in the Rocky Mountain region. The CU School of Medicine is ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the top 10 schools in the nation in primary care, family medicine, pediatrics and rural medicine. The University of Colorado Cancer Center is Colorado’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. School of Dental Medicine clinics serve 65,000 patients each year, providing dentures, implants, braces and general dentistry. CCTSI is the largest NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Awards initiative in the Rocky Mountain region.

Helping Guatemala's poorest

The construction of a $1 million medical facility in an impoverished corner of Guatemala is slated to begin in 2013, marking the University of Colorado School of Medicine's first long-term presence in a developing nation.
Physicians and students from CU spent last July in the region assessing the health needs of the population, doing physicals and testing children for parasites and anemia.
"What we are seeing is a chronic cycle of poverty," said Edwin Asturias, MD, director for Latin America at the Center for Global Health, part of the Colorado School of Public Health, who led the team. "And poor health care goes hand-in-hand with poverty."
