Alumni Volunteers in Action

The University of Colorado Denver Alumni Association provides plenty of opportunity for you to get involved! Many alums serve as volunteers on one or more of the Association’s 10 working committees. These committees plan and implement activities and programs to ensure you and other DenverCampus alumni, present and future, are able to maintain life-long contact with the university.

Committee Descriptions

Awards

• Plans and implements the Academic Athlete Program
• Solicits nominations and selects recipients of special alumni awards
• Obtains and presents gifts for outgoing board members and outstanding volunteers

Bylaws

• Oversees revision of the bylaws, standing rules, policies and operating procedures of this Association

Events

• Plans and implements alumni association activities at commencement ceremonies
• welcomes and cultivates our newest alumni
• raises funds which will benefit the alumni scholarship program
• assists the university commencement office in preparing and implementing commencement activities

Communications

• Critiques the alumni newsletter, CU on the Horizon, during the editing and design processes
• Reviews the Alumni Association Web page as part of the Denver Campus Web site on the internet

Finance and Planning

• Prepares an annual operating budget of projected income and expenses for presentation to the board of directors
• Provides sound fiscal planning and management of this Association
• Oversees revision of Goals and Objectives 

General Scholarship

• Plans and implements fundraising activities to perpetuate the scholarship fund
• Solicits applicants (link to scholarship application) and selects scholarship recipients
• Plans and implements a reception/lunch for scholarship recipients and donors

Legislative

• Works with the central office of State and Federal Governmental Relations to unify and coordinate activities that will enhance governmental communication
• Assists the University administration by advocating for government support of CU and higher education through the CU Advocates program

Nominating

• Solicits nominations and selects a slate of candidates for election of officers and board of directors
• Members are appointed by the executive committee and approved by the board of directors

Student

• Provides services and benefits for the students as well as providing programs that increase awareness, interest and participation among the students in the Alumni Association.
• Assists the office of Admissions in its student recruiting and retention efforts
