Joey Michel, a senior majoring in music technology, moved to Colorado from Riverton, Utah, to attend college. He initially chose CU Denver because of his interest in recording music and architecture. “My original plan was to get a double major in both and start an acoustic room designing company. And when I got my scholarship to attend this school, I knew I was coming. [After being here,] I really like the music program and the campus because it is in the heart of downtown.”
Through the music technology program, Joey has been exposed to different facets of the music industry, and his favorite classes have been the performance ones. “I had unbelievable professors, and although I came here for music technology, lately I am thinking about switching to performance because it is such a well-developed and outstanding program here.”
No matter his major, Joey is confident that his experience at CU Denver will help him achieve his dreams.
“One of my biggest dreams is to make enough money to tour the world and play acoustic instrumental guitar. The performance professors here have helped me aspire to this goal,” he says. “I have met people all across the country by playing this style of music, and I have quite a big following on the east coast.
