College of Arts & Media
Associate Professor

From my own experience of 10 years in Hollywood, I recognize that the University of Colorado Denver’s BA and BFA in theatre, film and television give students a skill set with a deep understanding of all three disciplines. Students learn practices and interconnected values that make for an excellent grounding, no matter what track they pursue.

The hallmark of our program is the mentoring and learning outside of the classroom. Students collaborated with Rocky Mountain PBS and other professionals on all aspects in the creation of Good Grief, a TV series with seven episodes, now viewable online.

How do you best choose a career that fits your passion and gives you a fighting chance in the market? The New York Times ran an article in recent years saying that a film degree is “a new business degree.” It’s the foundation of numerous career paths influenced by rapid advances in new media; technology combined with the arts opens many doors.
