ADAPTABILITY FOR A
Moving here with my family from Shanghai three years ago was an interesting change. My father had always traveled extensively in the U.S. for business, and he thought Denver would be a good home. I’ve really enjoyed it because the people are friendly and helpful, and are aware of what’s going on internationally.
Students at the University of Colorado Denver are self-starters, they’re able to motivate themselves and take charge of their education and professional plans. My classmates have children, jobs and experience—it makes a difference during classroom discussions and in people’s understanding of how the coursework will be applied in a real business environment.
UCD professors know their areas of expertise very well and are also very helpful. They don’t just provide lectures, they encourage you to think more deeply. And the school provides you with plenty of work experiences.
I’d like to get a master’s in finance and possibly a CPA. You can find the right mix of degree programs and courses, as well as opportunities, here at UCD.
I like the idea of applying for a position at an American-based company that would allow me to work in the states and also work internationally. Accounting is practical and gives me many options. Plus, I like math. I’m comfortable with it and it comes easily to me. So I know that my education is preparing me for a career that I’ll enjoy.
