Our First-Year Seminar (FYS) program ensures a successful transition from high school to college. Seminar classes help you become engaged in the CU Denver community and get to know your peers and professors. You’ll develop study and time-management skills that will help you achieve academic success. Class size is limited to 24 students for optimal interaction, and all FYS courses count as part of the required Core Curriculum. Learn more about FYS
Enrichment programs for freshmen
To help make your freshman year an outstanding one, we offer programs that include summer orientation, academic advising from professional staff, tutoring, career counseling and financial aid and scholarship assistance. We also offer a host of programs for undergraduates that promote academic excellence, research and creative activity and leadership education.
University Honors and Leadership Program
The interdisciplinary curriculum in UHL rewards intellectual curiosity, challenges you to expand your horizons and promotes lifelong learning. You’ll have opportunities to engage in research projects with professors, study abroad and participate in leadership-development activities with students from other universities. Learn more about UHL
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program
"UROP" funds students who are engaged in research, scholarly, creative and entrepreneurial activities in collaboration with university professors. Projects are designed independently by a student or team of students and endorsed by a faculty mentor or designed around the activities of a faculty mentor–great preparation for your career or graduate school.
