Before applying for admission to the College of Nursing, at least 60 transferable credits must be earned or in progress, including 16 specific College of Nursing prerequisite courses. Students may complete nursing prerequisites at any regionally accredited two- or four-year college or university including the University of Colorado Denver.
Once you have met the prerequisite requirements, you can apply to the College of Nursing on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
Taking the prerequisite courses at CU Denver
Students may apply to the Denver Campus as prenursing majors. Admission to the Denver Campus does not assure future admission to the College of Nursing.
Admission is highly selective, and students must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA to apply.
Students interested in future admission to the College of Nursing are not placed on a waiting list. However, the College of Nursing maintains a small alternate list annually after admission decisions are made. The alternate list runs for approximately eight months. Applicants who are placed on the alternate list but not selected for admission must reapply.
