COMIRB Transition from Paper to Electronic 'ePaper' Submissions

Beginning June 1, most submissions to COMIRB will be required to be made via the eRA(InfoEd) system. This includes:

  • Initial Submissions,
  • Continuing Reviews,
  • Unanticipated Problem Reports, and
  • Amendments.

Electronic submissions to Full Board Panel A and Panel B will be optional until September 1, at which time all submissions to COMIRB will be required to be made electronically. Click here to determine whether your research protocol (study) "lives" with Full Board Panel A or Panel B.

To complete electronic "ePaper" submissions, investigators will download documents from the COMIRB website, complete the documents, then upload the documents into the eRA(InfoEd) system to submit them.

Electronic Submission Instructions:

If you are familiar with COMIRB submissions, a full list of instructions on how to use the eRA(InfoEd) to complete different types of submissions can be found here.

However, if you are new to the COMIRB submissions, please select the appropriate link below for in-depth information on different submission types and how to complete them:

We strongly suggest that investigators attend the our weekly Electronic 'ePaper' Submission Training Course before attempting to make a submission electronically. Click here for more information.

COMIRB will also offer Electronic Submission Hour every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. (holidays excepted) at the COMIRB Office for one-on-one submission support. The COMIRB Office is located in Building 500, 3rd Floor, North Wing on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Please bring a laptop computer if you have one because we have a limited number of computers.

Click here for information about current research protocols (studies) that use the Microsoft Word version of the Application Form or the electronic Application Form generated by the eRA(InfoEd) System

Some investigators may have submitted research protocols (studies) for review using older versions of COMIRB Application Forms. Those protocols (studies) that currently utilize the Microsoft Word version of the Application Form or the electronic Application Form generated by the eRA(InfoEd) system will not be required to update to the "Smart PDF" version of the Application Form, unless COMIRB requests that they do so.

For new protocols (studies), we require that investigators use the PDF "Smart Form" version of the Application Form.
