Funding Opportunities

Tools and Links for Access to Sources and Sponsors

Personalized Fund Searches

ORDE staff will design and perform personalized fund searches for faculty seeking information about potential funding sources for their proposed research and/or training projects. To initiate a personalized search, please contact Lynette Michael at 303-315-5822 or lynette.michael@ucdenver.edu.

Targeted Funding Opportunity Announcements

ORDE monitors a variety of information sources to remain current on upcoming Federal and non-Federal funding opportunities. We send targeted announcements to our faculty based on your research interests. To take advantage of this service, please contact Lynette at 303-315-5822 or e-mail an abstract and keywords describing your interests to her at lynette.michael@ucdenver.edu. As opportunities become available in your areas of interest, you will receive pertinent information via e-mail.  Taking advantage of the Fund Search services above automatically registers you to receive these targeted announcements.

Grant Advisor Plus Newsletter and Database

ORDE has purchased a subscription to the Grant Advisor Plus Newsletter and On-Line Database for the University Research Community. The monthly newsletter highlights upcoming deadlines and provides deadline listings by discipline. The searchable on-line database allows searches by keyword, discipline or agency. The Grant Advisor Plus resource is available from any computer on the UCD network and is accessible off-campus through a username and password specified monthly by the publisher. Please contact Lynette Michael at 303-315-5822 or lynette.michael@ucdenver.edu to obtain this information. You may also contact Lynette to be placed on our listserv to be notified when the new newsletter is available each month.

National Health Council Second Chance Funding Opportunity

Have you been scored but not funded? The National Health Council (NHC) is offering a second chance for proposals that 1) have been submitted to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or voluntary health organizations, 2) were deemed worthy of funding but 3) did not make the paylines. NHC, with input from NIH, has launched the Health Research Funding Website, an online database service giving investigators the opportunity to post their scored but not funded biomedical proposals for consideration by NHC members. Who is the NHC? This organization represents a variety of voluntary health organizations (including Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Easter Seals, Epilepsy Foundation, March of Dimes, Prevent Blindness America, Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation and many more), other nonprofits with health care interests and industry partners (see NHC Membership Directory) who have joined NHC in their overall objective: "Providing a united voice for people with chronic diseases and disabilities." NHC's hope for this program is that it serves to expedite the funding process by providing a direct link to funders and helping investigators avoid duplication of effort. This service was recently outlined in Nexus Extramural, a publication of the NIH Office of Extramural Research. Repurpose your scored proposals at http://healthresearchfunding.org/.

Fund Search Databases

A variety of on-line fund search databases are available for your use, featuring both federal and private sponsors.  See our resource, "Fund Searching Databases."

Agency Links

Most federal and private agencies now have a web presence. Please see our Federal, State and Private Agency  Lists.  You may also find ORDE’s resource titled “Major Funding Agency Links” helpful as it provides a listing of important agency links related to research funding opportunities.

New Investigator Opportunities     NEW RESOURCE

Some agencies offer programs to meet the needs of new investigators, often providing resources to allow you to gain preliminary data so you will be more competitive in mainstream grant programs. ORDE has identified many of these, representing both federal and private sponsors, in our resource Major Research Funding Opportunities for New Investigators. You  will also want to explore the ORDE New Investigator/Junior Faculty Resources web section for additional assistance in your quest for funding. Be sure to contact ORDE staff with questions about potential funding and proposal development strategies.
