Hamilton Bean specializes in organizational communication. His research intersects the fields of organizational discourse and national security. From 2001 to 2005, he served in management positions for a Washington, D.C.-based provider of analytical support services to U.S. and international clients in government and industry. Since 2005, he has been affiliated with the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), a U.S. Department of Homeland Security-funded Center of Excellence. His research has been funded by the Department of Homeland Security and published in Intelligence and National Security, Rhetoric & Public Affairs, Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Homeland Security Journal, and the International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence. He has won awards for scholarship from the National Communication Association and the Western States Communication Association.
