Saira Hamidi is the Program Coordinator for the Office of International Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus providing program support across all international affairs units and functions. Prior to joining CU Denver she worked with the Interactive Theatre Project at CU Boulder performing and facilitating theatre for social change among the campus community and beyond. She also worked as a lead facilitator for the Denver-based arts education nonprofit organization Mirror Image Arts, which implemented a bullying prevention curriculum in elementary and middle schools across Colorado. Before returning to theatre and the field of international education she worked in international philanthropy as the Senior Program Officer for the Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights. She was also a member of the Denver chapter of the Incite! Network since 2008 and served a three-year term on its National Collective. She received her BA in Sociology with a Minor in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder; her MA from Columbia University is in Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures. She studied abroad in Sweden and has worked in Germany and Egypt. Raised bilingual in the Bay Area, she has studied eight languages (English, Urdu, Hindi, Swedish, Arabic, Spanish, German, and Italian) though claims fluency in only five. When she is not in the office she is either home snuggling her baby daughter or on the stage, screen, or behind a microphone as she is also a voiceover, theatre, and film actor who has performed theatre and spoken word poetry nationally in New York, Vermont, California, and Colorado and internationally in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, and Egypt.
