On November 22, 2013, Lana Bilbo (2017) attended the Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (IACURH) in Utah. The purpose of the IACURH conference is a chance to network, and to participate in the top programs across the region. Programs are the learning events that residence halls put on, usually in the form of activities and games with subjects such as Leadership, Diversity, and Sustainability.
The conference allowed Lana to experience and participate in different programs and determine the relevancy of the programs to UCD and Campus Village, and to replicate them here. Lana had a great time at the conference. During the day, attendants went to programs, and at night they had guest lecturers, a game night, and a social.
Her favorite part about the IACURH conference was the programs. She learned a lot and hopes that she can use what she learned to make an impact at the Campus Village Apartments.
To attend the conference, you have to be part of the Campus Village Community Council, but anyone can run for the positions on it (as long as they live at Campus Village). "It was definitely an experience I would recommend to anyone who has the opportunity," says Lana.
