Information for First-Time Preceptors

Do I need to become certified as a preceptor?

As of July 1, 2012, the State of Colorado will no longer certify preceptors.  The Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences  will accept pharmacists who have been licensed and practicing for at least 1 year.

Did you know?

Student pharmacists will spend nearly 1/3 of their educational time in pharmacy practice sites......

  • We see our preceptors as partners who help educate students, define the profession of pharmacy, and help us create a strong curriculum.

  • We strive to provide the highest quality education to our students and support to our preceptors.

Want to become involved?
We are always looking for talented preceptor help!  Opportunities include:
Conducting student site visits
Facilitation of small group discussions
Facilitation of courses (including CPC and Skill-based activities)
Grading writing reflection assignments
Review of student portfolio work
Please contact Wendy Anderson ( or Belinda Temple to learn more.
