Course Calendar - The current course calendar identifies the courses offered during the NTPD Program's academic calendar year.
The current course calendar lists the planned courses for summer 2012 through fall 2015. The course calendar is subject to change and changes will be posted on this website and/or by email to NTPD students' UCDenver email accounts.
Module Calendars - To assist in planning, the NTPD Program listed below the module calendars to show when each ADSM module opens and potential exam dates. Exams are open for two weeks to provide continued flexibility. Also, students should read through the course descriptions section below to learn more about the new ADSM modules.
Course Descriptions
Students fulfill the credit hours through five foundation courses and Advanced Disease State Management modules. A summary of the didactic courses is provided below, and students can download the specific course descriptions and prerequisites document for more detailed information.
Foundation Courses - Five foundation courses support the Advanced Disease State Management modules and develop skills that are important to the effective functioning of clinical pharmacy practitioners:
- Clinical Skills Foundations - 2 credits
- Immunology - 3 credits
- Evidence-Based Pharmacy Practice - 3 credits
- Advanced Drug Literature Evaluation and Clinical Applications - 1.5 credits
- Instructional Methods, with Seminars in Pharmaceutical Care - 2 credits
Advanced Disease State Management Modules - Each Advanced Disease State Management module addresses the pathophysiology, advanced pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetcs and professional skills development for two to three body systems. Please Note: Starting the 2012 fall semesters, the Advanced Disease State Management (ADSM) courses will be separated into smaller, shorter modules, providing 1 to 3 credit hours per module. Rather than having long courses that last for up to two semesters, some modules are now as short as four weeks.
To see how the ADSM courses have been separated into modules and to learn more about the ADSM modules, please review the Didactic Course Checklist and the Frequently Asked Questions documents.
The pharmacy curriculum is subject to change without notice. All courses are restricted to students in the North American-Trained PharmD (NTPD) Program.
