The NTPD program requires all applicants, who indicate English as their second language and/or who received their pharmacy education outside the United States or Canada, to take the internet-based TOEFL exam. Exam scores cannot be older than two years from the NTPD program application deadline date. If the applicant took the exam more than two years ago, then the applicant will need to retake the exam to complete the admissions process.

Scores from the exam will serve as one piece of the admissions process. Applicants can visit www.ets.org/toefl to find more information about and sign up for the TOEFL exam. Applicants should use code number 8776 to indicate the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Nontraditional PharmD program as the score recipient.

Should an applicant receive a low TOEFL score, then the applicant may contact the University of Colorado Denver English as a Second Language program to improve their English speaking and communication skills. The University of Colorado Denver English as a Second Language program is located on the downtown Denver campus, and the applicant will complete courses on the downtown Denver campus. Online courses are not offered at this time.

Three recommendations written on standard University of Colorado School of Pharmacy recommendation forms. The recommendation forms should be given to people who know you and your recent pharmacy career well, and can speak to your self-motivation and professional attributes. References will usually be from employers, supervisors, former faculty, preceptors or professional colleagues. See guidelines on the application form. Please request these at least 2-4 weeks before the application deadline to ensure that your application file is complete by the application deadline!

One-page personal statement that describes your reasons for seeking a PharmD degree and for applying to this program.

Current curriculum vitae (CV) or resume that includes your pharmacy practice experiences since graduation from pharmacy school.

Official transcripts from the School of Pharmacy from which you graduated and from any degree program(s) in which you have been enrolled since obtaining your BS in pharmacy. Usually, you will request these transcripts from the registrar's office of your school or college of pharmacy. Copies should be sent directly from your school to the chair of the admissions committee (NTPD). Please request transcripts at least 2-4 weeks before the application deadline to ensure that your application file is complete by the application deadline!

A nonrefundable application fee of $50.00 (US dollars) is required as part of the admissions process. Checks or money orders should be made out to the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy.

The interview process is designed to assess the applicant's knowledge of the profession, communication and ability to perform in a positive, professional manner when working with others. To be considered for admission, applicants must participate in the interview process. The NTPD office will contact applicants to schedule an appointment to complete the interview, which will be conducted via telephone.
