Grant Kinn, Executive Director RX Plus Pharmacies

2011 Distinguished Coloradan Award Recipient

Grant was born in Billings, MT, the youngest of four boys. He worked his way up with McKesson, starting with a sales territory in rural Montana, to promotional manager in Seattle, WA. Sales manager and, distribution center manager in Salt Lake City, UT, director of sales western US in San Francisco, CA, then finally vice president of sales in Denver.

He feels his greatest accomplishment at McKesson was the people he hired and trained who are still in the industry at an executive level.

He is now the executive director of RX Plus Pharmacies in Denver, an organization that represents independent pharmacy in eight states. He also sits on numerous advisory boards and committees both locally and nationally.

What he enjoys most about his job are the independent pharmacists with whom he works from throughout the state of Colorado to help them in promoting their businesses. He also enjoys teaching and helping the pharmacy students in the management elective in which he plays an integral role each year. Grant also works with the chapters of the National Community Pharmacists Association. He feels honored every day to work in such a highly ethical industry.

Grant and his wife, Lisa have seven children, four from his first marriage and three step-children. Heath is a graduate of the University of Colorado College of Nursing and currently is an ER nurse at Denver Health. Beau is finishing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado at Denver in anticipation of becoming a Certified Public Accountant. Their daughter Nicole has their only granddaughter who is the joy of their lives. Their son Paul tragically lost his battle with leukemia last year. Of Grant’s three step-children, Brandon, Blake and Cooper, Brandon and Cooper are interested in becoming pharmacists.

Grant’s personal philosophy is “No matter how much you give, you will always get more in return.” He has attempted to live that philosophy in raising his family and helping others.
