University of Colorado Hospital Tours

Tours of University of Colorado Hospital demonstrate a pharmacist’s role in a medicalcenter or hospital. This is an invaluable experience for prospective pharmacy students because it shows how exciting and challenging life can be as a pharmacist.

Students from the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy will be guiding the tours, so this is a great opportunity to ask them questions about our program.

You should know ahead of time that there will be a lot of walking and that each tour takes a little over an hour to complete, so wear comfortable shoes. We will also be showing you patient care areas, so it is important to be polite and remain mindful of the medical professionals around you. Each tour has a limited number of spots, so it is best to sign up early. We will send you an email with information on parking and where to meet after you schedule your tour.

Tours are tentatively scheduled for every other Friday, dependent on participation. If a tour needs to be cancelled, you will be contacted as soon as possible.

Advising Appointments

Edward Nance, Skaggs School of Pharmacy Recruitment Coordinator, holds half hour advising appointments with prospective students to help guide them through the application process. These appointments will help us determine how strong of an application you have, where you can improve and when you should apply. We recommend that applicants submit their transcripts and PCAT scores prior to their appointments so these materials can be reviewed beforehand. Directions and more appointment information will be emailed to you once you have scheduled your appointment time.

Advising appointments are tentatively scheduled for every other Friday, dependent on participation. If an advising appointment needs to be cancelled, you will be contacted as soon as possible.

Shadowing is one of the best ways to determine if a career is right for you. These opportunities allow you to see what they actually do during their daily activities. If you would like the opportunity to shadow a pharmacist, please contact us at for more information.

Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA)

The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about pharmacy and healthcare related issues, and the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. It is the only pharmacy organization on campus that allows pre-pharmacy students to join. The benefits of joining include participation in health fairs, shadowing pharmacy students, and preparing for your pharmacy interview.
