Adam Dworetsky

Adam Dworetsky is a classic Renaissance man. Well, he can't joust. Or paint. Or play the harpsichord. But he is excellent at learning dance moves from YouTube and applying them to the dance floor, taking pictures of lichen, sharing fancy cheese facts, reading the WSJ, and finding the silver lining in everything. Adam is a 25-year-old Colorado native and student in the Accelerated Summer ’13 cohort.

Brittany Siller

My name is Brittany Siller. I was born and raised a California girl and have moved around quite a bit since then. I went to college in Florida (go Miami hurricanes!), studied abroad in England, moved to Chicago, traveled around the world for a year, and am now settled down in Colorado. I worked in clinical research for five years before going back to nursing school. I live with my husband and dog and absolutely love experiencing Colorado. In my free time, I love skiing, brewing beer, and watching football. After graduating I hope to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.

Caitlin Shay

Caitlin Shay is part of the January 2013 accelerated cohort at CU. She grew up in the Denver metro area as well as Summit County.  She attended the University of Denver where she majored in International Business and probably could have majored in skiing as well.  After working in healthcare marketing for a nurse practitioner company, Caitlin learned more about the roles of nurses. This experience lead her to decide that a field that is so diverse in career options and provides so many opportunities to create a positive impact on her community would be the place for her.

Caitlin Weber

Hi my name is Caitlin and I am excited to welcome everyone to the College of Nursing! I was born and raised in California and went to college at San Diego State University, where I was a member of the school rowing team. After college, I joined AmeriCorps NCCC, which was an amazing experience that took me all over the country. The program was based in Denver, so that's how I came to live/fall in love with Colorado! In my free time, I like to ride my bike, volunteer, hike, read, hunt for treasures at the Goodwill, go to Rockies games, and catch up on my favorite TV shows.

Eliza Slayman

Eliza hails from Minnesota, but lived in Telluride, CO for the last eight years before becoming a Denverite and CON student. Before making the spectacular decision to become a nurse, Eliza studied anthropology, worked as a documentary film production manager, and traveled to many colorful corners of the world. She enjoys skiing, trail-running, un-choreographed dancing, hunting (then cooking), foraging for wild edibles, and learning about other people’s interests/hobbies. She does most of these things with her one-of-a kind husband and super dog.

Hannah Steele

Hi, my name is Hannah Steele and I'm from Spirit Lake, Iowa. Go Hawkeyes! I am part of the June 2013 Accelerated cohort. I have previous degrees in Anthropology and Biology, with a pre-med emphasis, from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I've been in Colorado since May and I absolutely love it so far. When I'm not studying, I am spending as much time as I can in the mountains.

Hayley White

I’m a native of Colorado but graduated with a BS degree in Biology with a focus in Social & Economic Justice from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2008.  Since then I have worked as a grant writer and quality improvement manager for Doctors Care, a nonprofit safety net clinic providing access to care in South Metro Denver, as well as completed 3 years of service in the US Peace Corps in Uganda.  I am drawn to the profession of nursing because of my passion for public health and the desire to interact daily with people from all walks of life!  And, of course, I love the feeling of having my pockets full of random gauze and alcohol swabs.  Welcome to the College of Nursing!

Jasmine Liddington

Jasmine Liddington. Born and raised in western Colorado. English literature major and theatre minor at Rollins college in Winter Park, FL. Worked as a a Human Resources manager, volleyball coach, yoga teacher, English language teacher & physical therapy aid while traveling the world for 8 years before coming to nursing school. Runner, hiker & dog obsessed.

Jeffery Schmidt

Hi, I am Jeff.  I am thrilled to have found my true calling through nursing after careers in TV production and the non-profit sector.  So far the areas of nursing that appeal to me are: ED, perioperative, correctional care, and psychiatric.  For the past 7 years I have been happy to call Denver my home and don't know why it took me this long to get here.  To unwind I enjoy practicing Bikram yoga, hiking, and watching scary movies with my dog.

Laura Koch

I am a Wisconsin girl who is obsessed with the Green Bay Packers, cheese, and brats, but was eventually pulled to the beautiful Twin Cities in Minnesota. I was lucky enough to run Division 1 track and cross country at the University of Minnesota. Nursing was always my goal...but it wasn't until December 29th when I was in line at The Gap when I received a phone call saying I was taken off the wait list and accepted into this if you have concerns about uprooting your entire life in one week...I am your girl!

Libby Frazier

Hi Everyone! My name is Libby Frazier, and I am part of the 2013 Summer Accelerated Cohort. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and graduated from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) with a BS in Human Physiology. I moved to Arizona after graduation to teach high school and middle school math for a little over a year before relocating to Denver for nursing school. I am so excited to be apart of the Peer Mentor team!

Mary Kastner

I am originally from Montclair, New Jersey and came out to Colorado to attend the University of Denver where I graduated with a degree in psychology. After graduating I worked in research for children and adolescents with Autism.  I love living in Colorado and experiencing all that this great state has to offer. I enjoy spending my free time in the mountains, hiking and snowboarding.

Matt Capell

My name is Matt Capell. I grew up in Idaho and received by first bachelor's degree from Utah State University in Mechanical Engineering. I moved to Denver in 2007 and worked as an aerospace engineer before starting the nursing program here at UC Denver. I love the Denver area and am excited to help you transition to this program.

Matt Libby

Matt Libby is a student in the June 2013 cohort of the Accelerated Nursing program. He has a background in finance, advertising, and biology. As a Colorado native, Matt is passionate about the outdoors, and he enjoys camping, mountain biking, skiing, and running. Matt's current interests include pediatric emergency medicine and surgical nursing.

Molly Buch

I was born and raised in Lawrence, KS and attended the University of Arkansas where I received a degree in Biology. I moved to Denver 2 years ago with the intention of going to nursing school. I am in love with Denver and also enjoy escaping to the mountains whenever I have a chance. I hope to stay in the area when I start my career in nursing. I am part of the January 2013 accelerated cohort and graduate in May 2014.

Rachel Kraut

Born and raised in Chicago, Rachel moved to Denver on a whim seeking sunshine and mountain adventures. After years in sports marketing and advertising, she abandoned ship and decided to pursue healthcare. When not in nursing mode, Rachel can be found in the mountains skiing, relaxing with friends or laughing for no reason.

Selah Meyer

I am a surfer girl from Oregon and I love the sky and clouds here in Colorado. If it has wheels, I'm there: longboards, bicycles, motorcycles, rollerblades, I dig it, especially if a fanny-pack is involved. Finally, I could live perpetually in the 80's, I would.

Tim Puralewski

My name is Tim, I am from Michigan originally, but spent the last 7 years in Gunnison, CO before starting nursing school.  I love spending time with my family as I have two young children at home and a wonderful wife that I have been married to for almost 8 years.  When I have down time I love spending it in the mountains rock climbing, mountain biking, climbing 14ers, skiing and whatever else I can find to do.  I was pretty nervous before nursing school after hearing from several people about how intense it is, but once I got started realized it it not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
