Summary

Associate Professor beginning Fall 2014. A doctoral degree is required and the PhD in nursing is preferred. If the doctoral degree is in a related field, the applicant must have a graduate degree in a nursing clinical specialty. Nurse Practitioner credentialing is desirable, but not required. An interest in genetics, gerontology, informatics or translational research is a plus.
Successful applicants will demonstrate strong commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment and will help shape a new graduate program. Teaching assignment includes classroom and clinical instruction. Every third interim provides opportunity for scholarly pursuits. Courses to be taught are dependent on specialization and interests of the successful applicant.

Description

Augustana’s progressive undergraduate nursing program is recognized for the excellence of its graduates and for its experienced, creative, and engaging faculty. The Department of Nursing is in the process of developing an accelerated curriculum for prospective students with a BA/BS degree in a non-nursing area. Graduate education is also in the planning process. Opportunities exist for international study and exchange opportunities for students and faculty in Norway and Ecuador. Additional study and exchange offerings are being explored. Exceptional opportunity for collaboration and partnership exist with leading health care organizations in the region. The Nursing Department celebrates 75 years of excellence in nursing education. Augustana’s graduates have consistently high pass rates on the NCLEX exam.
Qualifications: Earned doctoral degree (by September 2014) and evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level. Must be eligible for South Dakota registered nurse licensure.
