Pinning Ceremony
The tradition of the nursing pin and ceremonial pinning originated in the 1860's at the Nightingale School of Nursing at St. Thomas Hospital in London. The tradition has continued for more than 150 years and is perceived as a very meaningful and important rite-of-passage.  Your school pin serves as a reminder of the commitment you have made not only to yourself but to all the patients you serve.  At the convocation ceremony, each graduate will be 'pinned' by faculty members whom students have nominated for this honor.
