Caritas Coach Education Program

Become a Caritas Coach

The Caritas Coach Education Program (CCEP) is a unique six-month educational program that is structured as an experiential, aesthetic, personal, ethical and intellectual journey. This program prepares clinicians, educators, caregivers and leaders with the knowledge, experience and informed practices of Caring Science and the Theory of Human Caring.

As a participant, you will learn how to synthesize, integrate, and translate the philosophy, values, ethics and theory of Caring Science into authentic Caritas-Ways-of-Being for yourself and others. You will learn through a combination of innovative teaching-learning methodologies, self-reflection, authentic dialogue, ‘teachings’ and wisdom traditions to learn how to live heart-centered-caritas relation-modeling practices. You will be mentored throughout the program by an expert team of faculty associates.

The program relies upon a hybrid format, hosting a two-day onsite seminar at the beginning and end of each program, fourteen weeks of online interactive instruction, and a small group intensive with a Caritas Coach faculty mentor.

Note: Those taking CCEP for credit, please proceed to Academic Credit Section before registering.

What’s the difference between the CCEP and the ICC?

CCEP is a dynamic six month learning experience that begins and ends with a two-day, in-person intensive seminar (April & Oct) and provides one-on-one mentoring with distinguished WCSI faculty with the purpose of supporting the student in developing/implementing a project that brings forward Caritas concepts into daily practice.

Each fall, the CCEP seminar is held immediately following the International Caritas Consortium (ICC) and is hosted by healthcare systems/organizations actively engaged in applying Caring Science and the Theory of Human Caring. Accepted CCEP applicants are also encouraged to attend one Regional Caritas Consortium or professional conference to share their caring science work.

The ICC is a separate two-day gathering of health care providers from various institutional systems and of individuals who are actively engaged in applying Caring Science and the Theory of Human Caring. The ICC provides opportunities for networking and formal presentations of ongoing research and application of the theory.

Participation in ICC requires a separate registration and registration fee.

Although the International Caritas Consortium (ICC) and the Caritas Coach Education Program (CCEP) are held at the same location and at contiguous times in the fall, they are two distinct and different events. CCEP students are invited but not required to attend.
