You are interested in pursuing doctoral-level nursing education, but cannot decide which program is best for you? The College of Nursing offers two state-of-the-art doctoral programs to choose from: the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) and the doctor of philosophy in nursing (PhD). We also recently added two new dual-degree options: the doctor of nursing practice with a focus in public health nursing (DNP-PHN) and the doctor of nursing practice and master of public health (DNP/MPH).
Each program is carefully crafted to address the needs of the nursing profession and the population it serves. The DNP offers advanced clinical education and focuses on the development of tomorrow’s clinical leaders. The PhD program prepares nurse scientists who will create new knowledge to guide nursing practice.
The DNP is a clinical practice-oriented leadership curriculum that focuses on evidence-based practice and on research utilization for the improvement of clinical care delivery, patient outcomes and system management.
