Joan Ward's nurses’ training began in a 2-year hospital-based school in New York and then continued at the University of Utah for her BSN. Her clinical background was primarily in Adult Cardiac Critical Care and her most recent practice focus was in a Progressive Care Unit. Her past experiences in Nursing Management included a Cardiac Critical Unit Nurse Manager and a Hospital Supervisor. She enjoys volunteering at a local Home Health Agency performing Health Screening for seniors.
Joan’s association with the CU College of Nursing began as a master's student. Since 1991, she has been employed in the baccalaureate program as a clinical scholar and clinical education center co-coordinator. As nursing faculty, her previous courses included Health Assessment, Fundamentals and Complex Medical-Surgical Nursing. Currently, she teaches in the Transformational Leadership Course and also has a role as an Academic Advisor.
