Janel Saunders, MSN, CPNP is certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She has practiced as an NP for ten years in the primary care pediatric setting. Before joining the College of Nursing, she practiced at Mountainland Pediatrics in Thornton Colorado for 2 years. Prior to this, she worked at Altamonte Pediatric Associates as a PNP in Orlando Florida for eight years. Before becoming a PNP, she worked at UNC Children's hospital and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta as an RN.
In addition to practice, Saunders works per diem as a preceptor for the PNP and FNP students at the University of Colorado's clinical sites in the Denver community. Saunders is active on the Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of NAPNAP Board as immediate past president. She is also a Medical Accuracy Reviewer of health curriculum for the Department of Health and Human Services: The Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) via Paltech (Planning and Learning Technologies, INC.) Professional interests include pediatric asthma, obesity, and patient education on healthy living with healthy eating habits, exercise and obesity prevention.
