Ann Petersen-Smith has dedicated her career to health and well being of children and families. She started her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the University of Colorado Hospital. Petersen-Smith earned a bachelor's and master’s degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She earned her PhD in Child and Family Studies through the College of Education at the University of Denver in 2007.
Petersen-Smith is a dually certified Acute and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) who works in the Emergency Department at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. She teaches pediatric nursing in the baccalaureate program and serves at the PNP Option Coordinator. Petersen-Smith precepts advanced practice nursing students in the clinical setting and teaches pediatric primary care in the classroom. She has authored a number of pediatric primary care book chapters and articles. She has been invited to speak locally and nationally on a variety of pediatric topics. Her clinical interests include advanced pediatric physical assessment and pediatric acute care.
