 Pathfinders Award

Recipients of the Pathfinders Award are nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or other professional colleagues. Alumni who receive this award have been responsible for developing an exemplary program, theory or innovation or has overcome barriers to better the profession and patient care. Additionally, they have had a local, national or international impact and have been recognized by their peers as pioneers in their profession. Pathfinders Award winners represent the nursing profession in leadership roles they hold and have demonstrated contributions to the College of Nursing in terms of their time, effort or monetary contributions, which have enhanced the reputation of the college.

 Lifetime Achievement Award

Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award are nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or professional colleagues. These alumni have been practicing nursing for over 25 years and have made a significant contribution to the college, either financially or in time and effort for the benefit of the college. Additionally, they are recognized in the community for activities in many venues which contribute toward quality of life issues and impact on the health care system (i.e. as an educator, clinician or facilitator/administrator).

These nurses are members of the Alumni Association and have made significant contributions to nursing on a local, national or international level. Recipients of Honorary Alumni Awards are nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or professional colleagues. Nurses that receive this award are graduates of a recognized program in nursing and have made a significant contribution to the college, either financially or in time and effort for the benefit of the college. Additionally, recipients are recognized in the community for his/her philanthropic efforts toward the betterment of quality of life issues and patient care.

Distinguished Service Award

The Alumni board recognizes the many numerous contributions that Clare Sandekian, MS '69, RN, CNS, CAC III, has brought to the Alumni Association over a period of 20 years. For her vision, leadership, insight and support, Sandekian has been recognized with the Distinguished Service Award.

Rising Star Award

Graduates who receive this award have finished the University of Colorado College of Nursing's baccalaureate program within five years of their award date. Recipients have demonstrated a significant achievement in nursing or in support of the profession, have shown continued interest and/or support of the college through their time, effort or monetary contributions. Additionally, recipients demonstrate significant potential for further contribution toward the nursing profession and community, and interest in ongoing enhancement of an educational nature.

Special Commendation Award
