We encourage our alumni to nominate their peers and former classmates for an alumni award. Award nominations may be submitted throughout the year, but should be received by January 1 to be considered for that year's awards. Distinguished Alumni Award
Nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or professional colleagues. Criteria for award:
Has made significant contributions to nursing on a local, national or international level (these contributions may be academic or clinical in nature).
Has a record of membership in the association.
Has made a significant contribution to the college, either financially or in time and effort for the benefit of the college.
Must be a nurse.
Has not been previously honored by the Alumni Association or the College of Nursing.
Honorary Alumni Award
Nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or professional colleagues. Criteria for award:
Graduate of a recognized program in nursing.
Has made a significant contribution to the college, either financially or in time and effort for the benefit of the college.
Recognized in the community for his/her philanthropic efforts toward the betterment of quality of life issues and patient care (preferably nursing.)
Has not been previously honored by the Alumni Association or the College of Nursing.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or professional colleagues. Criteria for award:
Graduate of a recognized program in nursing.
Has made a significant contribution to the college, either financially or in time and effort for the benefit of the college.
Recognized in the community for activities in many venues which contribute toward quality of life issues and impact on the health care system (i.e. as an educator, clinician or facilitator/administrator).
Has practiced Nursing for at least 25 years.
May have been previously recognized by the Alumni Association and/or the College of Nursing.
Pathfinders Award
Nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or other professional colleagues. Criteria for award:
Graduate of the CU College of Nursing.
Is responsible for developing an exemplary program, theory or innovation or has overcome barriers to better the profession and patient care;
Has had a local, national or international impact and has been recognized by their peers as pioneers in their profession;
Has represented the profession in leadership roles; and who
Has demonstrated contributions to CU College of Nursing in terms of their time, effort or monetary contributions, which have enhanced the reputation of the college.
May have been previously recognized by the Alumni Association and/or the College of Nursing.
Rising Star Alumni Award
Nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student or other professional colleagues. Criteria for award:
Graduate of the CU College of Nursing's baccalaureate program within five (5) years of the award date.
Has demonstrated a significant achievement in nursing or in support of the profession;
May have shown continued interest and/or support of the college through their time, effort or monetary contributions; and who
Demonstrates significant potential for further contribution toward the nursing profession and community, and interest in ongoing enhancement of an educational nature (e.g. further academic education, and/or clinical certifications, research participation/publications, organizational leadership, etc.).
Special Commendation Award
Nominated by the Dean’s Office, alumni, faculty, current nursing student, or professional colleague. Criteria for award:
