COHO and COR host several ongoing seminars and trainings including the Qualitative Research Methods Forum, the Atlas.ti User Group, the Research Methods & Statistics Discussion Series, and the Monthly COHO / COR Research Meeting.


Qualitative Research Methods Forum

The Qualitative Methods Research Forum is a "community of practice" dedicated to building our qualitative research knowledge and skills through sharing expertise and exploring issues that challenge us all. We invite researchers, faculty, and students interested in qualitative research methods to participate in making this an interesting and useful forum for learning from the experiences of our colleagues.

Schedule: QMRF meets at 12-1 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of February, April, September, and November.

Atlas.ti User Group

The Atlas.ti user group welcomes all levels of users, from beginner to advanced, and everything in-between! The purpose of the group is to create a collaborative environment for sharing Atlas.ti issues and learnings.

Schedule: Meetings are held on the 4th Thursdays of February, April, June, August, and October, from 2:30-3:20 pm

Research Methods & Statistics Discussion Series

The Research Methods & Statistics Discussion Series sessions are designed for analysts and investigators to meet and discuss methodological issues in study design and analysis. Presenters are strongly encouraged to illustrate the research method or statistical technique they present by using data from a current project. Having a handout will enable all participants to leave the session with a concrete example to help them apply the method presented.

Past topics include:

  • GEE & conditional logistic regression
  • Missing QOL data in longitudinal study
  • Calculating sample sizes for nested case control studies
  • Moderation and mediation in longitudinal studies


Schedule: These sessions are held on the 4th Wednesday of selected months from 12:00–12:50 pm, and are open to the entire campus community.

Monthly COHO / COR Research Meeting

Research meetings feature presentations of various study topics, followed by discussion of findings.

Schedule: These sessions are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 12:00-12:50 pm, and are open to the entire campus community.
