Container:

Durable, tightly sealed plastic container (not a urine cup).

Specimen Handling:

Random urine, morning specimen preferred. Freeze without preservative.

Interpretive Reference Range:

Subjective interpretation based on amino acid amounts and pattern.

Use:

Examining for disorders of amino acid metabolism or transport.

Methodology:

Ion exchange chromatography (amino acid analyzer).
