Laboratory Divisions


The Biochemical Genetics Laboratory at the University of Colorado Denver was created in 1968 as part of a federally funded program to improve diagnosis and treatment of children with inborn errors of metabolism in several western states. The laboratory is now within the School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, in the University of Colorado Denver and The Children's Hospital. The laboratory has been directed by Dr. Stephen Goodman since its opening, and offers tests to detect and monitor treatment of many disorders of amino acid, organic acid, and fatty acid metabolism.

The DNA Diagnostic Laboratory at University of Colorado Denver was created in 1987. It has been directed by Dr. Elaine B. Spector since 1995. The laboratory falls under the section of Clinical Genetics and Metabolism in the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine at University of Colorado Denver. The laboratory offers tests to diagnose patients affected with genetic disorders or carrying genetic mutations in their DNA.

We do NOT offer paternity testing.
