Mixed Methods in Dissemination and Implementation Research

Understanding the context in which interventions are implemented is imperative for effective dissemination and implementation research. Mixed method designs, utilizing at least one qualitative method and at least one quantitative method, are particularly well suited to such understanding because they generate data that are deep as well as broad. In this talk, Dr. Albright will discuss the purposes for and strengths of qualitative vs. quantitative data, common barriers to using mixed method approaches, three dimensions of methodological combination, and five mixed method designs with particular relevance for dissemination and implementation research.
