Lung Microbiome Study: Alterations in Lung Microbiome in Acute & Chronic HIV Infection

Description:

This study plans to learn more about pulmonary complications of HIV/Aids. The study duration is 48 weeks.

Eligibility Criteria

• Age > 18 years of age

• HIV Negative Controls

• HIV positive acute and recent Patients

• HIV positive, naïve, ready to start ARV's, but not on meds

Exclusion Criteria

• Pregnancy

• Weight < 110 lbs

• Pulse ox < 90% on room air, at rest

• Antibiotics within 30 days of enrollment

• Known pulmonary hypertension

• Inhaled corticosteroids within 14 days prior to entry

• Inablility to undergo venipuncture or have a bronchoscopy
