Welcome to the University of Colorado School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus. A Top Ten Medical School, our departments, centers and institutes work with the University of Colorado Hospital, The Children's Hospital and Barbara Davis Center.

This is a beginner level training class that will cover an introduction to Series 5 software as well as InterACCT, the comprehensive language framework on the V, VMax, Maestro and EyeMax.  Attendees will become proficient in understanding the basic hardware, components of the software and how to make basic modifications.  Special emphasis will be placed on understanding different communication levels (emergent, context-dependent, independent).  Participants will also learn how to implement the language use and language structure elements build into InterAACT so as to better meet the needs of individual users.

 

Each participant or team must bring a DynaVox Series 5 Maestro, V, VMax or EyeMax to participate in the class.  USB flash drives, the mouse and a keyboard are also helpful.  If you do not have access to a Series 5 device, you may bring a laptop.  Series 5 Software can be downloaded from the DynaVox download center or loaded on when you arrive the day of the class.

The seminar will explore the AAC Language Lab, an on-line resource that includes information about the stages of language development, teaching resources, lesson plans and other supports for teaching core vocabularly.  Participants will learn about the stages of language development and how to promote expressive language at each stage.  Lesson plans demonstrated will cover all stages of language development beginning with individuals at the beginning stage of learning to use an AAC device.  This seminar is appropriate for anyone (parents, teachers, SLPs, etc.) working with an individual using an AAC device from any company.

 

Devices for this traning are not required as the site will have computers to use.
