GMcGrew.JPGGreg McGrew, MEBME, is a Research Instructor and the Product Testing Lab Coordinator with Assistive Technology Partners in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. Mr. McGrew is a rehabilitation engineer by training, with a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky, and an ME from the University of Virginia in a biomedical engineering program which focused on the design and development of rehabilitation technologies. At ATP, he operates and oversees the Product Testing Laboratory. The lab specializes in usability testing of AT and mainstream products used by people with disabilities. He also provides rehabilitation engineering services in the area of job accommodation and ergonomic evaluation. Mr. McGrew has taught graduate classes in bioengineering applications in assistive technology. Prior to joining ATP, he was director of the Center for Rehabilitation technology at Helen Hayes Hospital, a 150-bed acute rehabilitation facility in Upper New York City. Before working at CRT he developed AT and rehabilitation engineering service programs in a variety of disability services settings, including a state-funded program for people with developmental disabilities and in a vocational rehabilitation services agency. Mr. McGrew has been on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), and served as the organization's president from August 200 to August 2010. He was named a RESNA Fellow by the organization in 2010. Mr. McGrew also serves on the Board of FalconWorks, a non-profit technology transfer organization that works with the Engineering Division at the United States Air Force Academy consulting on senior engineering projects.

What I love about my job...

“I am an engineer that runs a product testing laboratory that looks at how AT products can be improved and made more usable by people with disabilities. The company, Consumer Reports, is an example of a products testing lab for general consumer products. This kind of work has never been done before in the field of assistive technology and I am excited to be a part of it."
