Joel M. Bach, PhD, is on the faculty at Colorado School of Mines where he is an Associate Professor in the Division of Engineering, the Associate Director of the Bioengineering and Life Sciences Program, as well as the Director for the Center for Intelligent Biomedical Devices and Musculoskeletal Systems.  He is also on the faculty at the University of Colorado Denver in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as the Department of Orthopaedics.  Dr. Bach is currently (Spring & Summer 2011) on sabbatical and serving as a jack of all trades for Assistive Technology Partners and is working on the development of gesture and motion based computer input and device control and development of a quantitative wheelchair seating and mobility laboratory. This sabbatical is serving to establish a long-term relationship between the School of Mines and ATP which will continue when the sabbatical ends.  Dr. Bach's research interests are in musculoskeletal biomechanics, both normal and pathologic, biomedical device design, computer/device input and control, biomedical instrumentation and computer assisted surgery.  He earned his PhD at the University of California Davis in Biomedical Engineering.
