10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Hensel Phelps West
Anschutz Medical Campus
This year the symposium will begin with an introduction
to the subject of Down syndrome by Dr. Tom Blumenthal, Executive
Director of the Crnic Institute and by Dr. Joaquin Espinosa, our new
Associate Director for Science. Our keynote speaker this year will be
Dr. Randy Nixon, from New York University. Dr. Nixon will discuss the relationship
between Down syndrome and Alzeheimer's Disease.
Last year the Linda Crnic Institute funded 11 research
projects at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Boulder campus, and National Jewish
Health. The remainder of this year's symposium will consist of talks
from some of the grant recipients and their lab members describing their
projects and progress to date. We hope that this will serve to provide a
broad overview of the sorts of proposals we are interested in
supporting (also see our Grand Challenges). Finally, we will end with a description of this year's grants program, planned for 10 grants totaling one million dollars.
