Each year, 4th year students begin applying and preparing for The Match. In addition to registering with ERAS or another application service, they will also register for one or more match programs.
ERAS (the Electronic Residency Application Service) is the main application service, supported by the AAMC. Using the Internet, ERAS transmits a standardized application, letters of recommendation (LoRs), the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), transcripts, and other supporting credentials from applicants and designated dean's offices to fellowship and residency programs
National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
- is the Main Residency Match.
Early Match Services:
- San Francisco Match - Child Neurology, Ophthalmology and some positions in Plastic Surgery
- Urology Match - operated by the American Urological Association
- Military Match - Army, Air Force, and Navy positions. Contact the individual service for further information
