Coronary Artery Calcification in Type 1 Diabetes

Project Description

The CACTI (Coronary Artery Calcification in Type 1 Diabetes) study is a prospective, longitudinal cohort study that has been following adults with and without type 1 diabetes for subclinical atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events for over 18 years. There are a number of ancillary studies also ongoing, including a study of bone health and fracture, a prospective study of the oral microbiome in type 1 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and a study of estrogen and endothelial function in women with type 1 diabetes.
